Jesus said in Matthew 28:19, Go, therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Welcome to Go Teach all nations, bringing you Christ's teachings through Australian and international speakers. And here is today's presenter, Dr. Eddie Ramirez. SPEAKER B 00:00:33 - 00:42:12 So today we're gonna cover quite a bit of ground. So we're gonna have two sessions. This is gonna be the first session. Um, for those of you that are new, I'm gonna be citing some of my research. My research is found on that ResearchGate page. Just go to Google and put Francisco Ramirez ResearchGate. I also have a very active Twitter account, @EddieRDMD, and there's also a YouTube page. All of this is free, by the way. I'm not selling you anything. And there is that Instagram page also. Let me show you a few things that I put on my Twitter account. This interesting, very, very interesting study just came out, Journal JAMA, one of the top journals in the medical world. How even if you follow a healthy diet, if you're sleeping less than 6 hours a night, it tremendously increases your risk of type 2 diabetes. So, it's not only to eat healthy, which we should all do, but we should also have enough rest. This other one, very, very interesting. How light stimulation of the mitochondria are able to stimulate the mitochondria to burn more glucose, decreasing by 28% your fasting blood glucose. In fact, in my book, you're going to see that there's a section there in which we talk a little bit about that light therapy.. And red light also reduces the peaks of that glucose by 7.5 after you consume food. This other one, very important study, we are seeing a tremendous increase in trying to push this hallucinogen, this type of mushrooms, in the mainstream. And those things are not without problems. In this study, they were showing that people taking this type of mushrooms— these are the ones that, you know, have a possibility of giving you hallucinations and so forth. It's not the normal mushrooms you buy in the store. And people with bipolar disease that were being treated with this, one-third noticed— that their symptoms actually worsened. So beware, not because somebody's talking about there, that means you should be using this. This is not a good idea. 3% actually had to seek emergency help. This other one, talking about ultra-processed foods and your risk of chronic respiratory diseases. And this is very well documented how eating these processed foods increase your risk of dying early, increases your risk of multiple cancers, increases your risk of cardiovascular disease. Not the best thing. Now today when you go to the market, the marketing department is going to set up things so that you see those foods here in front of your face, you know, so they're like quite tempting and so forth, and with a big sign that says "Sale! Half price today!" You know, so you're thinking, "Ah, man, this must be a pretty good deal, you know, to get this." But it is not a good deal, as it increases your risk of disease. We need to eat real food. That's what our body needs. So, if somebody puts it in a package and processes it, that is not what the best thing for your body will be. Again, you can find those tweets and many more like that on that Twitter account, @EddieRDMD. Every day I put something new there to motivate you to do those right lifestyle choices in the long term, which is at the end of the day the goal. You know, there's things that are evidence. And we need to base our decisions on evidence. So I need to check to see if what I'm believing is actually based on evidence, because believe it or not, truth does matter. In my head, I can have, you know, another type of reality. But when the true reality comes, you're going to, you know, have a little adjustment. I can go to the roof of this church church and say, in my reality, gravity doesn't exist. But if I continue walking off the roof, it doesn't matter if you believe that gravity doesn't exist. Gravity is there, and it's going to be a literally painful lesson to learn that gravity is still— is active, and so forth. So that's why we need to go and search for that truth And we need to adjust our reality based on that truth. For example, I can believe that I am Norwegian, and I do a genetic test like this one, I am not Norwegian. You know, that's not what my genetic test says. My genetic test says that I have, you know, Southern European blood, a little bit of Jewish blood, and a little bit of French and German. That is what my genetic test says. So reality versus what I believe. We need to base our decisions based on what the evidence is. 1 Peter 3:15 says, but sanctify the Lord in your hearts and be ready always to give— what? And answer to every man that asks you our reason of hope that is in you with meekness and fear. So in order to give an answer, you need to know the answer, isn't it? How can you give the answer if you don't know the answer? So that's why we need to go and go where the evidence is and then base our reality on that. For example, I got invited to be a co-author in this textbook of Lifestyle Medicine. This is the 3rd edition, and they're about to release the 4th edition. And that's what I did. I was talking about stress management. And for example, today, if you check stress management, they're going to try to encourage you this type of behaviors, such as yoga and meditation, and so forth, if you look at the evidence, this type of behaviors actually make your stress worse and make your mental health go downhill. And that's what I talk about here in this chapter. I went ahead and checked the scientific literature and show that that is not the best thing to do. So let's see how the Bible has had answers for real-life problems. For example, leprosy. Leprosy in the old days was killing people worldwide. And George Rosen wrote, fear for— of all other diseases taken together can hardly be compared to the terror spread by leprosy. And the thing is that leprosy was a horrible disease. Leprosy likes to go to the places that are cold in your body. Likes to go to your nose, it's going to destroy your nose. Likes to go to your ears, will destroy your ears. Tries to go to your toes because they're the farthest away, you know, from your body. And it would cause tremendous deformation in the face. And the medical community in the old days had no answer. They thought that it was eating by, by eating the wrong foods, like hot food, pepper, garlic, meat of hogs. And other physicians said that it was caused by the malconjunction of the planets. There's no evidence whatsoever never to that. And these suggestions were worthless. People would still develop the problem, and leprosy would come and start spreading in communities and start affecting multiple people. It's a very insidious and slow disease, but it ended up causing major problems. and 60 million deaths. In the 14th century alone, Black Death took the lives of 1 out of 4 people, estimated 60 million deaths. And this was the greatest disaster, medical disaster, in the history of the world. And what is it that brought those major plagues under control? It was when the church took leadership. As the church started going out to the communities and they started to apply the principle that is in the Bible of quarantine. The Bible, it says there that if somebody is sick, you shouldn't be hanging around them. That you should separate them from the rest of the people because of the possibility of infecting others. Here it is, Leviticus 13:46. As long as he has the infection, says the Bible, he remains unclean. He must live where? Alone. He must live outside the camp. So 60 million people died of the Black Death in Europe Because they were not applying this principle that has been there for more than 3,000 years. It is very clear. If somebody is infectious, put them away, separate them from others, because the possibility, you know, of sending that disease further and further. In fact, you can go to any hospital here in Australia, they have some rooms that they call them the quarantine rooms. So if there's some sort of new disease that they don't understand and so forth, they're gonna put the people there to separate them from the rest of the hospital. And yes, by applying those principles that were found in the book of Leviticus, they were able to eradicate both leprosy and black death. And then you may have heard, you know, they started creating these leprosy camps. So if somebody had leprosy, you know, they would send them to those camps away from the rest of the population, exactly as Leviticus was prescribing. Is that a coincidence? Well, or is it the fact that the Bible is true? Another problem was Cholera, dysentery, typhoid. They were killing a lot of people in Europe in the 1800s. In London, it would take 20 weeks of your wages to pay for a funeral. So, because it was so expensive, people would die and they would keep the bodies there in the house for weeks and weeks. Do you think that's something healthy to do? No, because the disease started spreading to the members of that household. And there was this very smart, uh, person, Edwin Shadwick. And Edwin Shadwick started to propose something. Why don't we start by putting a proper sewage system Before, people used to go to the bathroom and just throw the stuff there on the streets of London. Plus, there was no place to, you know, dispose those bodies of the people immediately after they were dead. So he was proposing we need to do something to dispose of those bodies in a proper way. And look at what Deuteronomy 23:12-13 says: Designate a place outside the camp where you can relieve yourself— talking about when you go to the restroom— as part of your equipment. Have something to dig with, and when you relieve yourself, dig a hole and cover up your excrement. For the Lord your God moves about in your camp to protect you and to deliver you your enemies to you. So as you can see, the guideline was very clear. Things that are dirty, like excrement, you don't want them near to you. You want to make a hole, you want to put that there, and then you want to bury things so that this doesn't contaminate others. And this is something that has, you know, brought mortality and infectious diseases very much worldwide. This is a big push from, you know, organizations of public health to go to communities that are underdeveloped to encourage them to start this type of, you know, latrines so that people don't go to the restroom in the open air, because then the flies go there and then they start transmitting these things all over the place. Sadly, there's many places that they still do that. And the Undertaker quotes, even after the coffins have been tapped to let out the liquid products of decomposition, till maggots were seen crawling about the floor, till as the body was borne away, escaping matter ran down the shoulders of the bearers. Because they had these bodies there for weeks and weeks. Imagine all the infectious agents that these things were generating. And God directed people to go ahead and study the Bible. What does the Bible say about somebody that dies? You must not leave his body on the tree overnight Be sure, what? To bury him the same day. Again, it was there in the Bible for more than 3,000 years. People were not following the principles, they were getting themselves in really big trouble. So, when Mr. Chatwith went to the Parliament to propose that number one, clear the sewage system to dispose of the bodies properly, the Parliament thought that it was a bad idea. And they end up sacking Mr. Chadwick. And they continued to increase the infections in England because they were not following what the Bible teaches. The Parliament should have listened to Mr. Chadwick and should have checked things in the Bible to see See that these correspond with what the Bible teaches. And these recommendations were given to Moses 3,500 years ago and still very relevant for today. Is that coincidence? Or is the Bible what it claims to be, the inspired word of God? Another story we can, we can learn from is in Vienna in 1847. In Vienna, they used to have very high mortality rate for the females that went to give birth. Statistics were 1 out of 6 women that went to deliver their babies were dying. And the obstetricians that were taking care of these ladies used to blame, oh, it's constipation. Oh, it's because of their fear. Oh, it's because there's poisons in the air and that is killing people. By the way, you study— if you study medicine or nursing, you go through these stories over and over. They don't tell you about the Bible side of things, but the story is there. So, people, mothers were dying very much, very, very high mortality rate. And the deaths in those wards decreased from 18% to 1%. What did they do that decreased tremendously the death? Well, there was Mr. Semmelweis. Just Google that name and you will see. I'm not making this up. And he actually proposed a solution to this. They had a big hygiene problem. And when he proposed that solution, what did they do? They demoted him and they sacked him for, according to them, he was saying some heresies. And what he did was the following. He noticed that in the wards where they— where the mothers were giving birth, the same physicians that were doing autopsies— you know what autopsies is? You know, you got a dead body and then you open it and so forth. The same physicians that were doing the autopsies, they would open the dead bodies that were full of disease, and they didn't wash their hands, and they went to deliver the babies. You think that was a good idea? So, Mr. Samuel Weiss proposed saying, this is not a good idea. These physicians should wash their hands, then take care of the mothers. But they thought that that was a bad idea, and they actually, you know, removed the system that he had established They, you know, threw away those wash basins that he had put there, and the death rate started to increase again. In fact, he was so discouraged, Mr. Semmelweis, that he actually started going crazy. He died in a mental health institution, Mr. Semmelweis. But it's very clear in the Bible, in Numbers 19:11, notice the counsel: Whoever touches the dead body of anyone— what does it say— will be unclean for 7 days. So these people were touching those dead bodies and transmitting disease to others. And it's also very interesting when you see some of the routines that were used in the, in the sanctuary. There's a reason why they had hyssop, which had an antiseptic there. There was running water, there was exposure to sun, there was cedar oil and wool fibers, and so forth. And that's what we do today, you know. We have soap, we put it on water, and then we wash our hands well and we're able to cleanse our hands. In the sanctuary, they had something similar to clean their hands. Coincidence? Or is the Bible what it claims to be? The inspired Word of God. So doctors should have listened to Semmelweis and should have checked the Scripture to prove if what Semmelweis was teaching was according to Scripture. But pride and laziness kept those doctors from accepting the obvious truths while women and their unborn babies were dying needlessly from not obeying what the Bible teaches. And you know, ever wonder why God was so picky about so many obscure things? Why a woman was unclean after childbirth? Because God wanted to protect that female from infection. It said it's unclean, don't go and touch it and things. In that way, that female was protected from bringing, you know, different pathogens to her. In modern medical practice and biblical principles. Well, he is trying to save our lives. For example, heart disease. We're talking about this previously this week. 42% of all the deaths each year are directly related to heart disease. 1 million people each year have heart attacks, and a heart attack happens every 20 seconds. A death of a heart attack happens every 60 seconds. Among the factors that have been pinpointed to the causes of heart disease include stress, which the Bible talks about, cholesterol, which the Bible talks about, high blood pressure and diabetes— the Bible doesn't talk about those things— but obesity and sedentary lifestyle. So basically, for those that didn't come to the lecture, what happened previously was that the blood vessels that bring the blood to the heart start to get clogged. There's not enough blood arriving to the heart, and that's what we call a heart attack. But notice the principle that has been there for a long time in Leviticus 7:22-24. Do not eat any of the fat of the cattle, the sheep, or goats. The fat of an animal found dead or torn by wild animals may be used for another purpose, but you must not eat it. Very clear, isn't it? This is not like, should it— does it say that or does it not say that? Like a really, really clear statement. And we people eat that saturated fat that stimulates the cholesterol, and boom, you know, you end up with a heart attack. There's a reason why in 2 Timothy 3:16 says, all scripture is given by inspiration of God. And you know, it's interesting because if you see all the books, there are many old books that we don't have them. You know, some older book makes reference to them, but we don't know, we don't have that book. Yet Through different providences, the Bible has survived. And Satan has tried to destroy this book through many ways. For example, when the people of Israel fell to Babylon in 605 before Christ, how does an army that conquers you treats you? Do they say, "Hey, you guys, go and pack, you know, we're gonna move to Babylon." Is that what they say? No, isn't it? They come and start taking everything, destroying everything. Yet even through that tremendous persecution that happened there, the Bible still was retained. In 167 before Christ, Antiochus Epiphanes order all copies of the Pentateuch, the first 5 books of the Bible, be completely destroyed. Well, even though he tried his best, it didn't happen. Because by 167 BC, they had already translated the Bible and spread this word outside of Israel So that's how the Bible was preserved. So for some people, the Bible is obscene to modern minds. It's arrogant. Some people say it's exclusive, it's intolerant, it's divisive, it's judgmental, it's reactionary. But the reality is, when you study the Bible, you will see how its insight is inspiring and profound, is timely for, for today, is urgent for today, even for those people that try to reject the Word of God. For example, the Bible says that gray hair is a crown of splendor. It is attained by a righteous life, says Proverbs 1631. And you know, there's people that have tried, you know, to try to sell you all kinds of products and so forth, even all the way from the time of the Egyptians. This is what the Egyptians used to prescribe if your hair started to, you know, to go away. When it falls out, one remedy is to apply a mixture of 6 fats, namely those of the horse, hippopotamus, the crocodile, the cat, the snake, and the ibex. To strengthen it, anoint it with the tooth of a donkey crushed in honey. You think this thing is going to work? No, it's not going to work. But Leviticus 30:13, 40 to 41, notice what it says. When a man has lost his hair and is bald, he is what? Clean. If he has lost his hair from the front of his scalp and has a bald forehead, he is clean. There was nothing wrong with it. You know, this is some— by the way, this is a European gene. Europeans, some of them carry the baldness gene, so they lose their hair, but they have hair, face hair. They can grow a beard. While, for example, Native Americans, they don't go bald, but they cannot grow a beard. So that's the European gene. And among some of the other recipes that the Egyptians used to prescribe: lizard's blood, swine teeth, putrid meat, moisture from pig's ear, excreta from animals including human beings, donkeys, antelopes, dogs, cats, and flies. These were the remedies that the Egyptians used to prescribe. I'm not making this up. Go and Google the Ebers Papyrus. This is where all these things come from. But Exodus 15:26 says, if you listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commandments and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases that I brought on —unto the Egyptians, for I am the Lord who heals you. Even though Moses grew up in the time when this knowledge of the Egyptians was spread, he didn't bring those things to the Bible. You don't hear there, you know, any heresy like that of putting excreta on your skin and so forth. The Bible says no, make a hole and bury that as far as possible. So, Acts 7:22 tells us that Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians. In other words, Moses was familiar with these recipes. He went to school, they taught him these things, but as God inspired him, he didn't brought those ideas into the Bible. So the instruction is completely different from that Ebers Papyrus, and you can see how the Bible was not copying the knowledge of the day. Instead, we don't find harmful or useless remedies that were used by the Egyptians in the Bible. In God's divine instruction, is devoid of those harmful practices, and it has actually many positive remedies. For example, you find in the Egyptian recipe for disease, the sting of the hornet is healed by the horsefly, crushed and applied to the wound. And this is something that you're not gonna find in the Bible. This is not something you should be doing. So, the Bible has practical things that can help us actually eradicate through principles of quarantine, of cleanliness, as we just saw a minute ago. And the thing is that there is plenty of evidence to believe in the Bible. For example, historical evidence. If you check in, in the history of the world, You're going to see that there are 270 different stories about a flood worldwide throughout the whole world. For example, let me give you one of them. The Hawaiians, the Hawaiians, before the Christians arrived there, already had a history about the flood. They say in their, you know, stories, long after the death of Kuniohona, the first man, the world became a wicked, terrible place to live. There was one man left. His name was what? Nuu-u. You know, even kind of similar to Noah. Again, this is before Christianity arrived in Hawaii. He made a great canoe with a house on it, filled with animals. The waters came up over all the earth and killed all the people. Only who? Nu and his family were saved. Fascinating, isn't it? How it actually matches with the Bible. Another one you find, another story, again before Christianity came, you find it in China. In one of the stories that are classic in the ancient Chinese literature, it talks, in, in Hinkin, it tells the story of a man by the name of Fu Hsi, who the Chinese say is the father of their civilization. And it talks about this Fu Hsi, his wife, and 3 sons and daughters, how they escape a great flood. Flood, and he and his family were the only people alive on Earth. And after the great flood, they repopulated the world. Of course, you know, there's a few things here and there that don't match, but that's what happens with the oral story. I tell you this story, and then you're going to tell it to your son, and then your son is going to tell it to your son's son. So you're going to start, you know, adding, removing, but still the framework of the story is actually quite well. Another one is found in Mexico among the Indians called the Toltecs, and they say that the first world lasted 1,716 years, and then it was destroyed by a great flood that covered even the highest mountains. And only one family survived named Cox Cox. That's the name they call this family there. Now, if you do your mathematics and you start calculating, the Bible says, you know, how old was somebody when their son was born and then when he died and so forth. If you start adding things, what we don't know is how old was Adam before this. That part we don't know. But if you start doing the mathematics like that, you're gonna come to the number 1,656 years. Very similar, it's just off, you know, by 60 years from what the Toltec story tells us. So pretty accurate. Babylon, it talks about this, another flood that was destroying the world and so forth. Maybe the Atlantis had to do with that, we don't know. Now, if you look in the map, this is where Mount Ararat is located. Okay, so you go on Turkey and you go all the way to the east where it borders the country of Armenia, between the border of Armenia, Turkey, and Iran. That's where the Ararat Mountains are located. Now, I want you to see this very interesting study from National Geographic. National Geographic is no church magazine, isn't it? It's actually the total opposite, you know, very secular type of publication. So, they did a very interesting study. They started checking the genetics of people worldwide. If you ever done, you know, your DNA test and so forth through services like 23andMe or MyHeritage and so forth, you're gonna see that you have something very interesting. You have what is called a haplogroup. If you are a male, your chromosomes are going to be XY. So one chromosome came from your father, the other one came from your mother. So your haplogroup is a specific type of your chromosome that you inherit from— if you're a male, from your father and your mother,. And if you are a female, you inherit that from your mother. So you can trace back haplogroups. There's multiple different haplogroups. So you can know the mother of the mother of the mother of your mother of your mother of your mother. You keep tracing them back. For example, my DNA, my maternal haplogroup is a European haplogroup. So the mother of my mom, of my mom, of my mom, of my mom, of my mom, you go trace it, trace it, trace it, trace it back, it came from Europe. While my paternal haplogroup is Native American. So the father of my father, of my father, my father, my father, my father, you could trace it back like that, it was a Native American. So, By tracing those haplogroups, you can kind of start figuring out the image where people migrated in the world. So National Geographic came up with this fascinating map where the migration took place. Please notice where everything originated according to this, the National Geographic. Where did it originate? Right here. So where is Turkey? Here is Turkey, is right here. Not too far, isn't it, from where Turkey is? And then from here, people came down to Africa. From here, people migrated to Europe. From here, people went and started, you know, migrating here to Russia. And then through here, people started migrating to the American continent. Fascinating, isn't it? Just exactly as the Bible predicts. There was a boat that stayed there in Mount Ararat. The people got off there and then they started spreading out around the world. When you check the genetics, that is exactly what you found. This message was made available by the Dundas Seventh-day Adventist Church.
